北加州除了大家最熟悉的San Francisco Bay 外，還有一個你不能錯過的海灣，就是位於舊金山灣區南方的Monterey Bay。今天是11/12/2011，老公心血來潮說要帶我去南邊看海，還要去吃海鮮大餐，於是帶著雀躍的心情，我倆展開了Monterey Bay一日遊。

今日的Monterey Bay一日遊 

[Santa Cruz] 

車行向南約50分鐘，我們抵達了Santa Cruz。除了著名海景，Santa Cruz還有個老少咸宜的老遊樂場Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Amusement Park，1907年開始營運，現今已超過百年歷史，堪稱是美國最長壽的樂園，其中於1924年沿著Monterey Bay所興建的雲霄飛車（Giant Dipper Roller Coaster）更是國家級地標，可惜這個冬天休園整修，我們只能遙望這座見證歷史的巨龍，想想她長年佇立於海岸邊，不畏風雨地為多少大小朋友帶來希望與夢想、歡笑與樂趣，希望很快地，我也能在這裡找到更多的快樂種子！

[Lunch at Phil's Fish Market & Eatery] 

出發前上網google了一下，找到這間評價很好的Phil's Fish Market。從Santa Cruz往南車行約半小時，抵達海岸旁的Moss Landing小漁港，找了很久，才發現隱身於小港區的這間海鮮餐廳，雖然店面不怎麼起眼， 卻有許多媒體爭相報導，Food Network亦曾專訪過這間餐廳喔！

Phil's Fish Market：店面雖不起眼，但早上11：30分在店前廣場已找不到車位了，可見多少食客慕名而來。





這間餐廳原本就是魚市場，顧客可直接採買新鮮海鮮回家料理，或選擇在店內享用由店家精心烹調的海鮮大餐

[Monterey] 

心滿意足地品嚐了海味後，繼續往南來到Monterey鎮，這座小鎮給我的感覺，其實很像小型版的San Francisco漁人碼頭，沿著海岸邊，古色古香的餐廳及特色藝品店林立 ，但卻沒有San Francisco那般的擁擠感，很舒服。Monterey由三個區塊組成，包括Cannery Row，Fisherman's Wharf和市中心，在 1848 年以前，Monterey一直是加州首府，所以在市中心亦可見到許多歷史遺跡。

[17-Mile Drive] 

今日旅程我最期待的，莫過於是17-Mile Dr景區了。離Monterey不遠處，有著一條叫做17-Mile Dr的街道，從Pacific Grove到Pebble Beach，這裡簇擁著太平洋海岸、上流社會的高爾夫球場及「一群」好野人家的豪宅。駛入這私人領域，每輛車須付$9.95的通行費，不過一旦踏進17-Mile Dr，我想大家也都會讚嘆這錢花的值得，難怪有這麼多歐洲旅行團也來朝聖，只可惜今天下午氣候轉陰，天空灰濛濛的，不然我相信一定能捕捉到更美的景色。

Point of Interest 5: Spanish Bay
Gaspar de Portola, the Spanish explorer, and his crew camped here in 1769 while searching for Monterey Bay. As a scenic picnic stop, this is also a pleasant location for a stroll around the shoreline.


  
 
Point of Interest 7: Point Joe
Early mariners often crashed upon these rocks after mistakenly setting their course for this point, believing that it was the entrance to Monetary Bay.

  


 
Point of Interest 8: China Rock
This landmark was named in honor of the Chinese who settled in nearby fishing villages during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

  
 
 
Point of Interest 10: Bird Rock
This stately landmark is home to countless shorebirds and groups of harbor seals and sea lions.


 

 
Point of Interest 11: Seal Rock Picnic Area
Relax and picnic here, surrounded by a vibrant mix of marine and bird life.

    




     
Point of Interest 13: Fanshell Overlook
The pure white sand of the beach below is irresistible to harbor seals that each spring return to bear their young. Closed during the harbor seal pupping season: April 1 to June 1.






Point of Interest 14: Cypress Point Lookout
For over 100 years, this point has been a preferred view of the dramatic Pacific coastline. Closed April 1 to June 1.



 




 
 
Point of Interest 16: The Lone Cypress
As one of California’s most enduring landmarks, The Lone Cypress has prevailed on its rocky perch for over 250 years. This icon of fortitude has inspired many and is revered as the eternal symbol of Pebble Beach Company.



 
 

  
Point of Interest 17: The Ghost Tree
With a trunk bleached white from wind and sea spray, the remains of this unique Monterey Cypress has a sinister silhouette worthy of examination.

This location marks the northern-most point of Carmel and Stillwater Cove. 

[後記] 

逛完17-Mile Dr已經快五點了，本來我還想繼續往南造訪Carmel這個附有藝術氣息的小鎮，但老公說怕回程會塞車，只好打道回府。希望下次能有機會，在Carmel海岸旁，邊品著下午茶，邊欣賞藝術家們嘔心瀝血的傑作。Bye Monterey Bay, hopefully we will meet you again soon!
